United Arab Emirates /UPR:Rights committee seeks public input

ABU DHABI // The committee charged with putting together the Government’s first report to the UN Human Rights Council is looking for input from non-government organisations and members of the public.

The first draft of the report being compiled as part of the top human rights body’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism is expected to be made available to the public within the next few weeks to gather feedback.

It’s the last round for the 32 countries that passed their human rights examinations in Geneva in April and May. During this week’s session of the Human Rights Council, each country presents its case and hear allegations from NGOs. But Monday’s session turned into an uproar.

Manama, june. 7 .Deputy chairwoman of the supreme council for women (scw) dr shaikha mariam bint hassan al khaliifa will take part in the un human rights council meeting to endorse the results of bahrain’s human rights universal periodic review, due in geneva from june 8 to 10.

Rencontre avec le président du parlement européen

L’Association Démocratique des Femmes du Maroc -ADFM- a participer à la rencontre organisé par la délégation de l’Union européen au Maroc à l’occasion de la visite du président du parlement européen Monsieur Hans-Gert Pottering dans le cadre de sa première visite officielle au Maroc et ceci le 6 mai 2008 à Rabat.

Etaient présent à cette rencontres les représentantes des associations suivantes: les présidentes de l’ADFM , OMDH, AMDH, la représentante de Transparency et le représentant du Forum des alternatives Maroc.

هم الترافع على وجه الخصوص بعثات الدول الناشطة في مجال حقوق المرأة[1] .تم لقاء أعضاء من وفد التحالف مع البعثات الدول التالية : الأردن ، والبرازيل ، هولندا ،فنلندا ،النرويج ، المغرب ، بيرو ، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ,كندا ,السنغال وسلوفينيا.

تم كذلك تنظيم مؤتمرات صحفية حول البلدان الأربعة المشاركة مع بحضور رويترز, AFP الخ…

تم توزيع ,على نطاق واسع, الإعلان الصادر عن التحالف بمناسبة الدورة الأولى للاستعراض الدوري الشامل UPR و الذي وقعت عليه 624 من المنظمات الغير حكومية ، فضلا عن نداء الرباط وتوصيات التحالف. وأرسلت نسخ إلى البعثات من طرف الاتحاد الدولي لحقوق الإنسان و وزعت من قبل وفد التحالف أثناء اجتماعاتهم مع الإجراءات الخاصة والبعثات

Report of the action of lobbying of the coalition “Equality without reservation” during the 1st Session of the Universal Periodic Review - April 2008

1. Summary of lobbying actions

Lobbying targeted in particular the missions of states mobilised on women’s rights[1] .Members of the Coalition delegation (with representatives of FIDH’s generalist member organisations) met with the following missions: Jordan, Brazil, Netherlands, Finland, Norway, Morocco, Peru, United States of America, Canada, Senegal and Slovenia.

Press conferences were organised on all four countries with participation of Reuters, AFP etc.
